Free College Astronomy Textbook Now Has Open Resources Hub

by , posted on 7:15 PM, March 22, 2017

A free open-source introductory astronomy textbook (written and edited to professional standards and cleverly entitled “Astronomy”) is being made available electronically by OpenStax, a non-profit at Rice University, supported by the Gates and Hewlett Foundations (and others).  You can find the book and more information at: http://openstax.org/l/astro

If you click on the orange “Share and Explore” button on this page, you are taken to an Open Educational Resources Hub, where the authors and adopters are sharing course materials and resources.   The Hub already has a list of free short videos on the web to go with each chapter, a guide to free lab exercises for intro astronomy, a sample syllabus, and more.
