July 12-17, 2015

Modeling Physics Workshop: Winona State University.

July 12-17, 2015

Registration is open for the Introduction to Modeling Instruction workshop at Winona State, held from 13-17 July, 2015.   Registration is online at,

The meeting is a 1-week introduction to Modeling Instruction and attendance allows participants (free) access to the Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Physical Science Modeling Instruction curricula.  Attendees are also given a 1-year membership to the American Modeling Teachers’ Association (AMTA), an active professional association that supports teachers using Modeling in the classroom.  The meeting is ~35CEU’s in size and if participants are interested, it is possible to take a 1-4 graduate credit class in conjunction with the workshop.

Cost is $500 for the week with lunch and snacks included.  Housing is available at $25 / night.

The meeting will be a general introduction to Modeling Instruction, which will focus on Physics-Mechanics.  However, we think Modeling is generalizable and relevant to any science teaching (maybe 5-12, and certainly 7-12), and we welcome science teachers 5-12.  In some sense, the goal of the workshop is to give participants enough exposure to the general pedagogy for them to be able to start using the curriculum that's available for their subject area in fall 15 (eg biology, physical science, etc).

This workshop is being organized by Dr. Nathan Moore.  Modeling experts include Scot Hovan and Darrell Rahn.
