MnSTA Board Of Directors Openings:

Have you wanted to get more involved with the Minnesota Science Teachers Association (MnSTA) but were not sure how? Consider serving on the MnSTA Board of Directors! The Board is composed of K-12 current and former public and private school science teachers, folks from higher and informal education, and our state Science Specialist, John Olson. We have the following openings starting in July 2019:

Region 6&8
Region 7
Region 10
Region 11 (2 positions)
Physics Rep.
Private School Rep

Duties:

Board members attend 3 half-day board meetings in Roseville, generally on the fourth Saturday of September, January and April; a whole day board summer retreat in Roseville about the third Wednesday in July; and the annual MnSTA Conference on Science Education (MnCOSE). Travel expenses are reimbursed for board meetings for outstate members (some restrictions apply). Board members serve for a two year term that may be renewed once. Some specific duties:

Regional Directors will be responsible for:

• arranging MnSTA meetings and conferences held in their Regions;

• working with educational organizations within their Regions on science education initiatives and professional development;

• promoting MnSTA within their Regions;

• contributing to the MnSTA Newsletter regarding their Regions;

• proposing budgets and providing vouchers and receipts for MnSTA money expended for their Regions; and

• recommending their successors to the President for appointment to the Board.
