Sea Change: Teachers-only Trip 2019

What is it? A special sailing trip, just for teachers!

Liveaboard sailing, navigation, curriculum discussion, school projects, and support from other teachers who want to prepare their students for a changing world. 

Dates: August 19-22, 2019

Departure: Knife River, Minnesota

Educational Goals for teachers:

  1. To learn climate change science as it relates to the Lake Superior watershed
  2. To gain a sense of comradery with other teachers facing similar challenges
  3. To develop carbon cutting projects and science curriculum within your educational setting
  4. Adventure and inspiration for your students

We will meet these goals through these objectives:

  • Learn climate science as it relates to Lake Superior, northern Minnesota, and the boreal coastline.
  • Practice climate science on Lake Superior (water temperature/clarity, data collection with thermoclines, limnology studies, plankton net).
  • Develop meaningful lesson plans and carbon-cutting projects.
  • Inspire your future students
  • Provide Continuing Education credits
  • Have fun and learn to sail!

Cost: $450

-Or $800 for a couple or two friends willing to share a double bunk

-Discounts available for those unable to get Continuing Ed. funding
