Job Description / Duties

St. Paul Academy and Summit School seeks candidates for the position of Upper School Chemistry teacher. This is a full-time, long-term substitute position to cover a leave slated for all or nearly all of the fall semester of 2019; we have an anticipated start date of late August.

Status: Temporary Full-time, Exempt
Department: Instructional Faculty, Upper School

Given the school’s recent opening of the Hugh K. Schilling Math and Science Center, a $25 million dollar facility which provides distinctive, state-of-the-art resources for math, science, computer science, robotics, and engineering, this is an exceptional opportunity for any teacher looking to help grow and shape a dynamic program.

SPA seeks a candidate who has a demonstrated passion for working with young people and who will approach their role as an advisor with a drive to better understand the emotional needs of their students and support a program where self-reflection, empathy, and flexibility are the goals. Excellent interpersonal skills are required.

Candidates should support the mission of SPA, the vision of the Upper School, and be eager to join a professional community where collaboration is valued and where openness to growth is the norm.

Required Skills:

Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in chemistry or a closely related field, although a masters degree is preferred. Candidates should have experience teaching high school or college chemistry or other relevant experience. Candidates with a background or experience in organic chemistry and/or forensic science are also strongly encouraged to apply.
