Congratulations to Aayush Gupta, Matthew Qu, Stephen Chen, Benjamin Weiner, and Geoffrey Chen, along with their coach Amanda Laden for winning the Department of Energy National Science Bowl competition. The final question they correctly answered for the win was

“A group of Department of Energy Office of Science researchers conducted a conformation analysis of the epidermal growth factor receptor using modeling and time-resolved fluorescence microscopy. Identify all of the statements that are true concerning this protein.”  (The correct answer was “It is a receptor tyrosine kinase.” )

In addition to winning a trophy and medals, the team also won a nine-day, all-expense paid science trip to Alaska and $1000 for the school science department.
