The Minnesota Section of the American Chemical Society. (Mn-ACS) is looking for a current or retired High School Chemistry teacher to be a part of the Mn-ACS Executive group. The executive group is an active group of chemists, both working and retired, representing local industry as well as academia. The executive committee plans monthly sectional meetings (currently virtual) as well as leads many local outreach programs such as Chemists in the Library, Chemistry Olympiad, Science Fairs, Project SEED, and Senior Chemists. Further information can be found on our website at   https://www.mnlocalsectionacs.org/.  The American Chemical Society strongly encourages AACT members to join the ACS. There is no charge for joining.

This volunteer would serve as a liaison between secondary schools and our section. In addition she/he would be involved in activities that assist in chemistry teaching in secondary schools, such as arranging for ACS section members to talk briefly to classes about careers in chemistry/science, or to go into classrooms and do simple hands-on activities, or to help provide small grants from the section for getting equipment, and/or assist chemistry teachers in other ways. He/she could begin by working with one school of his/her choice, and perhaps involve others later. We encourage retirees to apply!

Please contact : Lynn Hartshorn, Councilor, at lghartshorn@stthomas.edu or Bruce Bear, current chair, at brucerbear@msn.com for more information or to volunteer.
