Weather is a complex phenomenon involving many variables that are constantly changing over both space and time as well as interacting with each other. Although data for these variables is collected on the surface of the Earth at National Weather Service stations across the U.S., few people know that -- twice daily-- weather balloons (“radiosondes”) are launched from Weather Forecast Offices. The data are used to create a cross-sectional view of the atmosphere which is critical to identifying conditions that may lead to severe weather as well as being able to visualize “inversions” which often contribute to the worsening of air quality.  In this workshop you will experience a “virtual fieldtrip” to a radiosonde launch at the Chanhassen, MN weather station, get familiar with the data that is collected, and how it may used.

This webinar will be FREE but participants must contact Dr. Lilienfeld by July 21, 2021 at 5 pm at:   amy@circleofillumination.com.  For more info go to: www.circleofillumination.com.
