Forwarded from Mn DNR:

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is excited to announce phase 3 of the No Child Left Inside (NCLI) Grant Program. Please see the press release below, but information on how to apply for the Phase 3 Mini Grants is also available on our website at https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/no-child-grants/index.html. Please share this information with others that may be interested.

Phase 3 mini grants are first-come, first-served, starting at 9:00 a.m. CST on Thursday, December 2, 2021, with a short timeline, simple application and quick review. The minimum funding request for a phase 3 mini grant is again $500 and the maximum is $5,000. Please note in the application materials, however, that there are a few different requirements in phase 3:

  • Applicants must be a public entity or private nonprofit organization with a mission or educational purpose that supports natural resource education and/or outdoor recreation.
  • A match is required for phase 3 mini grants and must be tracked and reported. No specific amount is required and in-kind support is allowed.
  • Past recipients of any NCLI grants are not eligible for phase 3 mini grants.
  • This grant program is designed to serve those with limited opportunities who don’t typically have the resources to access outdoor activities. Project participant population must have a reportable free and reduced-price lunch (FRPL) percentage of at least 40%. Do not apply if you cannot document this number. A searchable database of Minnesota student enrollment data, including FRPL numbers by school, district and county with data down to the grade level, is available on the Minnesota Department of Education website.

Please see the No Child Left Inside web pages for the full list of phase 3 mini grants criteria and requirements.

Once approximately $200,000 in phase 3 mini grants are awarded on a geographically-balanced, statewide-basis, the DNR expects to implement phase 4, which will offer larger grants of $5,000-$49,000 from the $250,000 in grant money that will be available in winter of 2021-22. Phase 4 projects likely will be able to start in summer 2022.
