Northern Nights Documentary AND Free Classroom Resources now Online!

FREE ONLINE CLASSROOM LEARNING RESOURCES AVAILABLE THROUGH PBS LEARNING MEDIA
A new suite of free classroom learning resources developed by CGEE and PBS North for the national PBS LearningMedia web portal is now available for the Northern Nights Starry Skies documentary. Lesson plans for grades 6-12 developed for each segment of the documentary include an introductory One-Minute Wonder phenomena-based learning activity, vocabulary, discussion questions, and a main activity. The collection also includes a Talking Sky media gallery, with new videos featuring Ojibwe artist and scholar Carl Gawboy. Carl's original artwork, animated by CGEE’s Leigh Simmons, introduce four seasonal Ojibwe constellations that are associated with cultural activities and traditions. In addition to PBS LearningMedia, resources are also available on PBS North’s Cardinal Learning Hub and on CGEE’s Waters to the Sea™ Lake Superior Odyssey program.
