Science Teacher Educator and Licensure Working Group

Dear Community Partners, 

The Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) is creating a working group to review Minnesota Science teacher education and licensure. 

Duties: The working group will meet monthly to review current Minnesota Science teacher education and licensure and recommend any needed changes.  The working group recommendations will be due to the PELSB Board by March 31, 2026.  Note that the working group is unpaid – this is a volunteer position. 

Dates: The working group will meet on the following dates: 

  • Wednesday, November 5, 2025, 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. (Non-public; information meeting) 
  • Wednesday, December 3, 2025, 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. (Public may view the meeting) 
  • Wednesday, January 7, 2026, 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. (Public may view the meeting) 
  • Wednesday, February 4, 2026, 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. (Public may view the meeting) 
  • Wednesday, March 4, 2026, 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. (Public may view the meeting) 

 

Applicants must attend all meetings of the working group, either virtually or in-person. 

Application: PELSB is seeking applicants for this new working group who fit at least one of the following categories: 

  • an administrator from a Twin Cities metropolitan area public school district; 
  • an administrator from a Greater Minnesota school; 
  • a Human Resources administrator from a Minnesota public school district; 
  • a unit director or program director of a Minnesota teacher preparation provider; 
  • a Science teacher from a Twin Cities metropolitan area high school; 
  • a Science teacher from a Greater Minnesota high school; 
  • a Science teacher from a Twin Cities metropolitan area middle school; 
  • a Science teacher from a Greater Minnesota middle school; 
  • a representative from a Minnesota charter school; 
  • a Twin Cities metropolitan area community member; and, 
  • a Greater Minnesota community member.
