I would like to invite you to register a middle school or high school team for the 2017 Minnesota State Regional Science Bowl.

Students work in teams of four or five to solve problems and answer questions in all branches of science and mathematics. These one-day competitions are conducted in a fast-paced question-and-answer format, similar to Quiz Bowl or Knowledge Bowl. Teams compete head-to-head in a round robin tournament, with winners advancing to a double-elimination championship.

The top middle school team and top high school team win an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. to compete in the National Science Bowl. Last year Edina High School and Minnetonka West Middle School won first place regionally and went on to compete nationally.

This year we are expanding the number of high school teams that will be allowed to participate in the January 21st competition!

Whether your school has never competed in Science Bowl before or has sent a team to nationals in the past, I invite you to coach a team. Students learn more than just science and mathematics by competing in Science Bowl - they gain confidence in their abilities and learn to rely on their teammates' strengths.

Please let me know if you have any questions about Science Bowl.
