A Workshop for Educators - Small Life from a Great Lake

Dear Center for Great Lakes Literacy educator,

You are invited to a hands-on interactive workshop that will teach you about some of the smallest life found in Lake Superior, their ecology, how to collect and identify plankton using a plankton kit, and how to record your observations and data in already existing databases. Please read on for more information.

Date and Time: Monday, May 1st, 12:00 p.m.- 5:30 p.m.

Cost: Free, but registration is required.

Workshop description: A Workshop for Educators – Small Life from a Great Lake. Participants in this workshop will learn about algal ecology and harmful algal blooms, and receive in-depth training on the Cyanoscope kit (cyanos.org), including how to use the equipment and report their findings. Participants will engage in a plankton building activity and free teaching resources will be available. Participants may order their own meal from Erberts and Gerberts (which will be delivered) or bring their own.

Who should come? Teachers (grades 4-12), pre-service teachers, non-formal and informal educators.
