BSCS/NABT Biology Teacher Academy
About
The Biology Teacher Academy at BSCS develops and supports a new generation of leaders in biology education who are able to design and teach a course that exemplifies the Framework for K-12 Science Education. Open to all biology educators, this academy is an expansion of the BSCS/NABT AP Biology Leadership Academy.
Why Participate?
With a vision of highly-engaged students, this is an important opportunity for biology and AP Biology teachers to plan for conceptual coherence of the Framework for K-12 Science Education.
Goals and Outcomes
By attending this academy, you will:
- Strengthen how you teach biology so students learn more meaningful biology and are more interested in studying biology in the future.
- Use effective practices of science to help students learn big ideas and unifying concepts of biology.
- Analyze and enhance your current curriculum materials to better reflect the Framework for K-12 Science Education.
- Learn to use formative and summative assessment information to examine what your students understand.
- Develop a network of fellow biology teachers that supports excellence in biology education.
