Job Description / Duties

The Minnesota Department of Education’s Division of Statewide Testing has an opening in the area of science assessment. This position exists to provide direction, leadership, coordination and consultation to the Statewide Testing team and service to school districts to facilitate the assessment of state academic standards in science and serve as the state expert and primary resource for K-12 science assessment.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Minimum Qualifications:
*Three years of professional experience as a teacher, coordinator or administrator of science education programs with responsibilities which include the following:
**Knowledge of best practices in science assessment and instruction to assure development of valid, reliable assessments
**Program planning/evaluation, curriculum or staff development

OR
*Three years of professional experience in  large scale assessment including test development, item review processes and online assessment

Preferred Qualifications:
*Teaching licensure in science education
*Advanced degree or additional coursework in science education
*Teaching experience with general education students, English Learners and students with disabilities
*Program knowledge of Statewide Testing Assessment division and the Department of Education
*Experience with the Minnesota K-12 Academic Standards in Science
