The Bakken Museum Hosting Inaugural

Education Expo on August 3

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Bakken Museum will be hosting their inaugural Education Expo from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 3. The event, which is free to educators, will give teachers and community partners a chance to sample the museum’s assemblies, residencies, workshops, STEM events, and exhibits.

The Bakken Museum’s outreach team encourages curious minds to explore interactive programs and experiences designed to inspire engagement with science and innovation. Last year, the museum provided 433 outreach programs to 43,900 students throughout Minnesota.

“The Bakken Museum’s education and outreach programs engage students in the innovation process and inspire youth to see themselves as future leaders in STEM,” said The Bakken Museum Associate Director of Education Anika Taylor. “During the Education Expo, we hope to reach new schools, libraries, and community centers to provide learning experiences to an even broader and more diverse range of students throughout Minnesota.”

Programs are designed by age group ranging from 2 years to adult STEM events and vary in time from 30 minute programs to five-day residencies. From helping high school students investigate the science and culture of the early 1800’s that lead Mary Shelley to write Frankenstein, to Pre-K explorers’ first experience with coding, the museum has a program to fit a range of interests and curriculum requirements.

The museum and Ed Exposition activities will be open to the public for general admission prices. Educators must present a valid ID badge and provide email address to receive free admission.
