This no-cost workshop will prepare educators to engage students in citizen science data collection about the phenology, or timing, of milkweed development and the interactions between milkweed plants and the community of milkweed herbivores and pollinators.

Milkweed Adaptation Research and Education Network (MAREN) Summer 2022 Workshop

 
The Milkweed Adaptation Research and Education Network (MAREN) Summer 2022 Workshop will prepare educators to engage students in citizen science data collection about the phenology, or timing, of milkweed development and the interactions between milkweed plants and the community of milkweed herbivores and pollinators. Using intersections of both scientific and indigenous ways of building knowledge, educators will be immersed in the ecological relationships of monarchs and milkweed, learn to make careful observations at a field site, analyze and discuss data, and consider how to use data to make predictions and restoration decisions.
 
Target Audience: Science educators for grades 6-16 and informal educators.
Dates: June 27, 29, and 30, 2022. Hybrid Format; Variable Locations.
Cost: The workshop is FREE for all participants.
