The program, open to K-12 teachers and specialists across Minnesota, is a series of retreats focused on helping teachers develop fluency in standards-aligned, equity-centered, multidisciplinary approaches in nature-based education.

Good afternoon,
Hamline University’s School Of Education and Leadership received a generous grant from the MN Environmental and Natural Resources Trust Fund to help prepare K-12 educators and specialists across the state in nature-based teaching. The benefits of nature-based experiences are immense for students and teachers alike!  Nature has been linked to:
-improved academic outcomes
-increased sense of classroom community
-improved creativity, systems thinking, and social-emotional wellness

Your school does NOT need to be in the woods, have tons of outdoor gear, or be an environmental school! We want to work with as many “mainstream” settings as possible to expose teachers to the powerful effects of nature on student learning and overall well-being. *All participating teachers will receive a $2000 stipend* after they complete the program. (Yes, you read that right! $2000)

Please click this link for more info, additional research on the benefits of nature-based learning, and an application. Consider sending a small team—or your entire staff.

Please reach out to Patty Born, pselly01@hamline.edu with any questions.

Thank you!
