Job Description / Duties

We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and team-oriented teacher to join us in our mission to build confidence, success, and purpose through transformative learning experiences. The Upper School Science Teacher teaches secondary science courses, including Biology, Physical Science, and Environmental Science. The Upper School Teacher plans, organizes, and implements appropriate instructional programs in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

RESPONSIBILITIES
-Equipping students with the skills and attitudes for scientific thinking.
-Fostering civic and global engagement and environmental stewardship to solve real-world problems.
-Planning and preparing learning activities for a balanced program of instruction and demonstration.
-Providing an environment and culture in the classroom that engages students and helps them learn more effectively.
-Developing learning strategies to help a range of students to achieve success.
-Designing and adapting instruction to meet student learning needs and interests.
-Encouraging students' creative expression, incorporating student interests and passions, and developing critical thinking.
-Implementing key components of a Groves Academy education, such as relationship development with students, knowledge of the student learning profiles, evidence-based decision-making, and differentiation.
-Communicating with parents regularly by email or phone, conferences, and progress report writing.
-Upholding the Characteristics of Teacher Excellence at Groves Academy.
-Participating in professional development.

Qualifications / Required Skills

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CREDENTIALS
-Bachelor’s degree in Science Education
-One or more years of teaching in an educational institution
-Experience teaching Science in a high school setting
-Experience working with students with learning disabilities such as dyslexia and attention disorders
