MnSTA is excited to announce a newly created position on our Board of Directors for an Indigenous Science Education Board Representative. The description of this position is listed below. In addition, this slideshow outlines information about the MnSTA Board. Please share this information with colleagues or contacts that may be interested. In addition, we would like to remind members that MDE is gathering information to inform the legislature and MDE about your needs to implement Indigenous Education for All and how they can support the work to implement Indigenous Education for All to better serve each student in Minnesota schools. Indigenous Science Education Board Representative responsibilities: 

  • Guide and advise MnSTA in resources to support educators in science standards including contributions of Minnesota’s Tribal Nations and Indigenous ways of knowing 
  • Coordinate and/or provide professional development offerings for the MnSTA community related to Indigenous ways of knowing and supporting the Indigenous science standards (professional development offerings may be virtual or in person) 
  • Contributing to the MnSTA Newsletter with resources regarding Indigenous ways of knowing and/or science standards with an emphasis on Indigenous communities 
  • Promote MnSTA within their network and community of educators 
  • Representing the viewpoints of their areas to the Board
  • Proposing budgets and providing vouchers and receipts for MnSTA money expended for their activities.
  • Recommending their successors to the President for appointment to the Board
