Be rewarded for teaching science

Do you know an exemplary teacher of science (or yourself)? Could they (or you) use $1000 for a classroom project or supplies?

Then nominate that teacher for the MnSTA Science Teaching Award or start an application yourself. Two awards are given each year, one elementary and one secondary. The application is relatively simple, and few people apply. In addition to the cash award, the participant receives free registration to the MnSTA conference and is recognized at the awards ceremony.  The application deadline is October 15. Nomination and application forms are at the MnSTA Awards website.

Also consider nominating or applying for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Two state awardees receive recognition in Washington DC and a cash award of $10,000 plus local recognition and leadership opportunities. This year K-6 teachers are eligible. Nominations and applications are at the Presidential Awards website.

The National Science Teachers Association has several teacher awards on the NSTA Awards website
