Youth Climate Justice Summit

Students that participate in the Youth Climate Justice Summit will be able to network with students from around the state, engaging in authentic peer-to-peer learning. Additionally, this is an excellent opportunity to bring the Citizenship and Government strand of the social studies standards to life, as well as apply knowledge gained about climate change impacts in the science classroom.

What is YCJS?

Youth Climate Justice Summit

Join us on Friday, March 15th, in person, at the Minnesota State Capitol for a day of youth action, learning, and a chance to participate directly in government. Led by youth, for youth, you’ll interact with youth climate justice activists from across Minnesota and discuss how to make change in your communities!

Students will spend the day engaging first-hand in civic service activities. Students can:

  • Meet youth leaders from across the state. Youth will share stories about why they care and their proposed solutions to climate change.
  • Prepare and lead small group conversations with their State legislators.
  • Learn about the legislative process and witness committee discussion in progress.
  • Visit and tour the state capitol and legislative offices.
  • Participate in hands-on workshops to learn more in-depth about climate change issues, climate justice, renewable energy and other sustainable solutions, and civic engagement.

*May satisfy learning requirements for social studies, science, or STEM
