We have lots of great events in the physics education world coming up.  This email contains information about the MN AAPT annual meeting, Squishy Science Sunday part of APS March meeting, and a series of talks on teaching climate change put on by the Harvard PoLS-T network.
 
Abstract submission and meeting registration for our Spring 2024 joint MN AAPT and GO4St8 meeting is now open.  You will find links and information at the website below
 
 
Basic meeting information
Who: Anyone in the Minnesota area interested in physics education at all levels
When: April 27th 8:30 registration 9-3 meeting including free lunch (generously provided by St. Thomas) if you register by the deadline
Where: University of St. Thomas plus an option for online participation
What: Invited Speaker Joe Cossette Phystec teacher of the year 2023 Minnetonka High School + contributed talks and posters on physics education and other physics talks + networking time + lunch + business meeting
Cost: Suggested membership dues of $10 payable by cash, check or zello at the meeting
 
Abstract call
15 min talks on physics education topics (12 min for talk, 3 min for questions)
Student posters on any physics topic (including student poster competition!)
Other physics and physics education posters
 
 
We also have a number of other events coming up including the biggest gathering of physicists in the world at APS March meeting (March 3-8 at Minneapolis Convention Center).  As part of that you, your students and your kids are invited to Squishy Science Sunday.  MN AAPT is one of the sponsors of this free event where participants of all ages will get to interact with physicists and learn about the physics of slime and other fun squishy materials.  Stop by the MN AAPT table to say hi.  Flyer is attached.  Invite anyone interested in fun physics.

And another great group that I am a part of has a speaker series on Teaching Climate Change.  These talks are specifically designed for high school teachers but all are welcome to join. We are also planning on a series of talks in the future on socially responsive physics teaching, so feel free to join the network to provide feedback on topics you are most interested in.
