Science teachers needed to try out 3-dimensional assessment tasks

by , posted on 2:43 PM, March 6, 2019
BSCS Science Learning and AAAS Project 2061 are collaborating on a project to develop assessment tasks that measure students’ ability to use the three dimensions of science learning outlined by the Next Generation Science Standards to make sense of energy-related phenomena.

We are currently interested in field testing draft assessment tasks with students across the country. We are recruiting elementary, middle, and high school science teachers and college or university faculty willing to administer the online test to their students between April 15 and June 31, 2019. The test will be administered using a web-based testing utility and should take one class period to complete.

In order to participate:

  • You must be a science teacher or faculty member in the United States.
  • Your students must be in grades 4-12 or be undergraduates.
  • You must obtain permission to participate in the field test from the appropriate school or district personnel before registering.
  • You must be able to reserve enough computers that have a reliable internet connection for all students in your classes on the day of testing (one computer per student).
